Why I'm Not a Doctor
Hi, I’m Avita Samaroo. So my dad was a doctor, and when I was a little kid, everybody expected that I would go into the medical profession too. I knew right away that I didn’t like it, I wasn’t cut out for the blood and the gory aspect of it, but I still wanted to get involved with that profession in some manner.
When I was in law school, I thought that I would get involved with health care law. Come to find out healthcare law means that you are working in the hospital and you’re working on employment contracts for the doctors.
I ended up working in personal injury, it was the first job that I got right out of law school and it was the right fit for me. I knew right away when I was getting involved with the injuries and medical records and reading them and understanding them. That was what I love and that’s why I’m not a doctor.
